Itinerary
It's undoubtedly the ideal way to begin exploring this three-thousand-year-old enclave. During your visit, you'll fall in love with its squares and hidden corners, where different civilizations have passed through, giving it its current appearance and forging the cheerful character of the people of Cádiz.
We'll meet in the central Plaza de San Juan de Dios, the former market for exotic goods brought from the Americas. From there, we'll enter the medieval Populo district and explain its landmarks, such as the walled enclosure with its various gates. Within this district are the archaeological excavations of the Roman Theatre, which we'll have the opportunity to visit. Afterward, we'll admire the Atlantic Ocean from the seafront at Campo del Sur and see the New Cathedral with its much-photographed golden dome.
Later, we will delve deeper into its history, exploring the 19th-century bourgeois area where the Constitution of 1812 was drafted. We will see the Plaza de las Flores with the regionalist Post Office building and stroll to the Plaza de la Candelaria, a landscaped area with several 19th-century palatial houses with courtyards that are well worth seeing.
